PREP PROGRAM

Empowering Players of All Ages On and Off the Field

49ers PREP presented by U.S. Bank empowers Bay Area youth to lead healthy lifestyles by engaging in physical activity and nurturing the growth of student-athletes. Our free programs give young athletes the tools they need to be successful on the field and lead healthy, well-rounded lifestyles beyond the field.

BUILDING CONFIDENCE THROUGH FOOTBALL

Through our free, co-ed flag football leagues, our PREP Schools activations, grants for high school football programs, and our support of High School  girls flag football, we remain committed to inspiring and empowering the next generation of game changers. Here’s how we expanded our impact and encouraged young athletes to tackle possible.

PROGRAMS

PREP SCHOOLS

Presented by U.S. Bank

49ers PREP presented by U.S. Bank introduced a new three-part PREP Schools program offering a deeper impact and understanding of health and wellness by partnering with schools across the Bay Area. Students had the opportunity to participate in a Junior Training Camp emphasizing football fundamentals, a Fun Run to encourage movement in an engaging environment, and a virtual lesson series centering fitness techniques and overall well-being.

Continued Support of High School Girls Flag Football

In February 2023, the State of California became the eighth state to sanction girls flag football as a high school varsity sport. Building upon momentum from this historic decision, the 49ers Foundation enhanced program offerings for girls and executed multiple opportunities for athletes to learn more about the sport while amplifying athletes’ stories and the work of leagues across the state.

Girls Flag Football Jamboree

Fueled by Gatorade

49ers PREP presented by U.S. Bank teamed up with Nike to host the second annual Girls Flag Football Jamboree fueled by Gatorade and first at Levis® Stadium . Over 150 rising 6th - 12th graders learned techniques and fundamentals about the game of flag football from local Bay Area coaches and 49ers Alumni.

49ERS PREP FLAG FOOTBALL

49ers PREP flag football leagues covered 23 cities across Northern California, impacting over 4,700 youth. This co-ed program, supported by the Westly Foundation, is completely free and provides critical lessons for youth development on and off the field, including teamwork, leadership, confidence, nutrition/health and respect, as well as certification processes for coaches and league commissioners who became program leaders in their communities.

Mentorship Academy

Presented by Newfront Insurance, the Prime Meridian Group, and the William V. Campbell Family Foundation

The Mentorship Academy is a three-step program designed to provide high school football players with the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to succeed and be leaders on and off the field. The athletes in attendance were surprised by a visit from the entire 2023 San Francisco 49ers rookie class. The rookies led discussions about the importance of having – and being – positive role models. At the conclusion of the event, participants were challenged to take what they learned and become mentors in their own community.

T.H.I.N.K. GOLD!

Presented by Fuel Up to Play 60

49ers PREP presented by U.S. Bank teamed up with the Bay Area Women’s Sports Initiative (BAWSI) to host the Annual T.H.I.N.K. Gold! Conference presented by Fuel Up to Play 60. Together the organizations gave over 90 female high school athletes from across the Bay Area the opportunity to meet and learn from the women of the 49ers front office and staff through a variety of social and physical exercises at Levi's® Stadium. The day revolved around 49ers PREP’s and BAWSI’s collaborative mission of encouraging young women to maximize their full potential in athletics, academics and in the community, while teaching them to live a healthy, well-rounded lifestyle.

HIGH SCHOOL TAKEOVERS

Presented by U.S. Bank

49ers PREP presented by U.S. Bank led the charge on two High School Takeovers featuring a faceoff between Los Gatos High School and Pittsburg High School and a showdown between Half Moon Bay High School and Terra Nova High School. 49ers alumnus Dana McLemore served as an honorary captain, while the 49ers mascot, Sourdough Sam, energized the crowd during both Friday Night Lights showdowns. For the first time in its history, 49ers PREP supported the championship game of the San Francisco Metro Girls Flag Football League, featuring a matchup between Galileo and Lowell high schools.

SKILLS CAMP

Fueled by Gatorade

Over 90 high school student-athlete(s) from across the Bay Area came to Levi’s® Stadium to partake in the fifth annual 49ers PREP Skills Camp, a full-day camp that offered multiple experiences for both entry- and elite-level rising 8th through 12th graders looking to fine-tune their game. On the field, participants competed against other Bay Area talent, and improved athletic skills through position-specific drills that were taught by 49ers alumni.

ANTHEM TEAM

Prior to each 49ers home game, 49ers PREP presented by U.S. Bank invited program participants to stand on the sidelines next to the San Francisco 49ers during the National Anthem. This experience allows participants to get a professional player’s perspective of all of the excitement of a gameday. For many participants, this experience also created an unforgettable first ever trip to Levi’s® Stadium.

NIKE 11-ON

49ers PREP Presented by U.S. Bank teamed up with Nike to host the third annual Nike 11-On. The one day event featured a 7-on-7 tournament with eight local Bay Area high schools – Andrew Hill, Castro Valley, Deer Valley, Fremont , Liberty, San Jose, Santa Clara, Skyline and Silver Creek – and allowed participants to work on team chemistry ahead of their high school football season.

COACH & PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The 49ers PREP High School Player of the Week Presented by U.S. Bank and 49ers PREP Charlie Wedemeyer Memorial Coach of the Week presented by U.S. Bank programs are designed to recognize high school coaches and players who continuously demonstrate hard work and dedication to their football programs on and off the field. In 2023, this grant program provided $15,000 to local high schools to support their football programs and honored girls flag football players and coaches for the first time

FRESH LIFELINES FOR YOUTH

Since Fresh Lifelines for Youth’s (FLY’s) founding in 2000, the 49ers Foundation has supported the organization’s work to interrupt the pipeline to prison and support youth on their path to healthy, free and productive lives. FLY connects young people with positive mentors and role models, promotes their understanding of the law and their rights and supports them to become leaders among their peers and in their communities. FLY also helps our juvenile justice systems become more just, humane and equitable.

In 2023, 49ers PREP presented by U.S. Bank teamed up with FLY to surprise youth at the James Youth Ranch with a visit from current 49ers players. The players sat with students and discussed healthy methods of dealing with emotions and helped lead football skills and drills stations for youth to rotate through.
